sct tuner accuracy?
I purchased an 04 F350 6.0L two years ago with a cst monitor in it.
My oil and coolant temps were a consistant 10-14 degrees apart (warm & under load) and have increased to 16-18 over the 2 years..
So I am dooing a coolant flush this weekend to flush the oil cooler....
My question comes from having just put a sct x4 tuner in it and noticed my temps read 4 -8 degrees apart..?
Should i assume one is more accurate?
Or get a 3rd device to confirm.?
Thanks for any feedback...
Either way, if you've got one reading that large of a spread, it's a good idea to do a coolant flush, but that may not be enough. If you do a google search on it, there's a place down in I think Georgia who does a LOT of videos on 6.0 trucks, they show how they do it - they've got a special setup they use that uses water + compressed air to blast through the cooler and really knock the crap out of it.
Of course the BEST thing to do is to simply relocate the oil cooler - there are kits available, and it gets the oil cooler out of that hot engine valley so it can actually cool the oil, AND makes it easier to replace in the future if it clogs again.
