Hello everyone! I’m having trouble finding a OE replacement oil cooler for my 1990 Ford F-250 460. I’m starting to believe mine doesn’t have one considering it looks like they don’t make the factory ones anymore. I tried calling auto parts stores, junk yards, etc. i only found aftermarket. Now I didn’t know what a oil cooler was until today and it looks complicated to put in a aftermarket one. I saw some other posts that you can bypass it. Does that really work? Should I do it? Will it cause engine damage? I’m in complete distraught, it’s my second grandpas truck and he died last week so this truck has sentimental value to me. Id appreciate everyone’s opinion!
The factory one is on the oil filter boss
Part of the adapter and they were mainly on 4 wheel drives with the tow package
They could of course be ordered on anything and my 351 van has one
Check the wrecking yards
Send me a PM. I have an 89 getting a new engine that is not getting the cooler, lines, or adapter put back on. The old engine didn't have a catastrophic failure.
My 1990 460 had an old-school air-to-oil cooler with a little radiator in front and hoses going to it. My friend's 91 460 has the newer style water-to-oil cooler where it's all self-contained and has a radiator hose going thru it. Is this the changeover year? Which kind are you looking for?
