I have been having an issue of my 55 running a little warmer than it should be. It is not exactly overheating but I would like temp to run lower. I do not have any of the seals around my radiator. On the top of hood latch panel or at the splash pan. My temp is running around 190 going down road. It will climb to about 200-205 in a pretty good pull. This past weekend I noticed it crept up to almost 210 in traffic. It is a 351w with cold case radiator and shroud with fan. The fan is controlled by a thermostatic switch. It comes on at 185 and pretty much stays on from there. But I was wondering about the seals around the radiator. Has anyone put vertical seals from the rad support to the radiator to seal more air in. I am thinking about ordering the valance seals and try that. It has not overheated yet but I have been keeping an eye on it. The hottest I have ever saw it is 210.
I have correct rotation water pump. I switched it to serpentine belt when I installed radiator. But this has been pretty much same issue since truck was built with standard rotation water pump and griffin aluminum radiator with electric fan and shroud. I replaced with cold case because griffin developed a leak. Running down road it is running at 185-190 for most part and will climb some when in a pull.
Size electric fan
CFM
Have it as a PULLER or PUSHER
I use this set up 18" fan--3100 CFM and is a puller -- BRINGS AIR into engine-- temp sensor goes on 200 degrees off at 175 -- with AC -- I do have the top and bottom radiator seals installed like originals
My radiator Fan and shroud set up is very similar to yours. I have the overflow tank and everything also. I bought it all from cold case. I think the fan size that they offer is 16 inch. I am thinking air flow through the radiator cuz it does fine going down road it’s when it should be “sealed” and pulling through with Dan at low speeds and idle that it is creeping up. And technically it’s not overheated yet.
When it is idling and the fan goes on put a sheet of newspaper in front of grill should want to pull iit thru the grill if is a strong fan-- get your seals top and bottom installed---
I had a problem on one of my builds keep moving with fan temp went down some-- at Idle and stop it went up at a steady pace--- I took water pump off they sent me the WRONG pump had to grt them to send me STANDAR rotation pump and worked great---

Yeah when I switched it from my other belt set up to this serpentine set up I did all my research on which pump to get and all of that. I have checked the pull through the radiator with fan on. It will hold a rag on the radiator. Thanks for the help and info.
