Hey all. i have a 1993 F-150 that i just rebuilt the motor on and i just remembered that the speedometer bounces at anything over 35-40 MPH. i replaced the ABS sensor in my rear axle and it hasn’t fixed it. if anybody has any ideas on what the issue could be it would be greatly appreciated.
Some info on the truck
1993 F-150 with a 302 motor. 4 speed manual(no overdrive. i wish because it feels slower after being rebuilt) Axle code 19 4WD
Make sure the sensor is seated fully in the rear axle housing. Also, take a look at the wiring and make sure it's in good shape and not damaged. Quality sensors are worth the price here over generic store brands.
Other possibilities are the time ring inside the diff is damaged, thus is unlikely if you haven't opened the diff lately.
There is also a psom in the dash cluster. This caN be repaired. Just required some disassembly and then sending off to be fixed.

Hey, apologies for the late reply. I looked at the new sensor I put in and it's down just about as far as it will go. I looked at the old one and it had to me, quite a bit of gunk on it. It was damp but it wasn't covered in rear-end oil like I thought it would be. I haven't had a chance to study the wiring that well. I traced it once and lost it once I got to the transmission so I just left it alone.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if something was damaged in the rear end because I've been doing nothing but fixing the truck since i bought it(just rebuilt the motor because the guy didn't do it right)
The truck to me feels slow because at about 3000rpm it feels like it's doing around 60-65 mph. i'm not totally sure since the speedo bounces like i mentioned before
