I just bought my daughter a 1992 F150 with a 302 engine. Well, now the speedometer and odometer is not working at all. Any help with what this problem might be will be greatly appreciated. And maybe the location of the part? I thank you in advance.
Anyone have a clue what this could be. I have heard the Speed Sendsor or the Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module????? I am not that mechanically inclined and need to have the daughter knowing how fast she is going, lol.
There is a speed sensor mounted on the rear axle for the Rear Anti-lock Brake System, I would think that with your truck being `92 this sensor would run the speedo as well. If it is defective I would have thought the ABS warning light would be showing on the dash.
The PSOM is mounted behind the speedo in the dash cluster. For more information on that click on "Search this Forum" and enter psom in the box.
I`m sure someone here has had the same problem and may be able to pin-point it for you. Good luck.
I have a 92 f150 and when i got the truckt the speedo was out. I replaced my vss or my abs sensor on the rear diff. did not solve the problem. I reset my psom I have not tested it yet but my speedo moves when i turn the key on. To test/restet your psom speedometer, hold the restet button for your trip odmeter and turn your key to on, do not start it. There is a way to recalibrate speedometer for tire size like this also. Let me know if this fixs any thing. If when you test the psom and the needle goes all the way up and back down. The speedometer is not at fault from what I understand.
