How to use VIN decoder

I have found the VIN decoder, https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/v...W1ED0NFA61749;
I am looking to determine payload for an individual truck. Obviously, it would be nice have the door sticker listed. I would hope to have the GVWR and subtract the actual weight. So far I have found multiple numbers listed with commas and min/max numbers. I have not broken to code to isolate the numbers to find or calculate the actual payload for the individual truck.
I have searched, but have not found an explanation or instructions. I have seen people use the decoder to determine the payload.
If the information is easily available, I apologize for my ignorance. Otherwise, I appreciate any help. I am primarily interested in payload, but determining max tow would also be nice.
Thanks,
Reid

There is no useful vin decoder that provides accurate payload numbers. I've seen lots that are misleading or completely wrong.
On newer trucks if you can find the window sticker, you can do a lot of inference with that, but in the end the only reliable thing is the door sticker.

I was afraid of that- too good to be true. I have the Ford Tpw Information PDF that has specifications for F150 to include option weights. Looking for sticker info to judge my ability to estimate.
BTW- Ford Tow Information PDF list 4x2 SuperCrew Powerboost with 5.5 box weighing more than 6.5 box. Reverse with other engines and all 4x4. I think it is a typo.

It wouldn't be the first time Ford has had a typo in their documentation... the best thing I did when waiting for my truck was to scour the internet for folks posting their payload stickers on similar builds as mine... Also, if you see one listed that is close to your options on a dealers lot somewhere, give them a call and ask them to give you the numbers on the door sticker. I was able to guesstimate mine by less than 20 lbs! Also, like mentioned above, you won't be able to get the trucks actual payload from a VIN number. You can get the GVWR, but not the payload. Good luck!

I would greatly appreciate anyone posting sticker payload with basic configuration.
with Ford info, I can configure a Powerboost 5.5 box, King Ranch standard 4x2 with 1800+ payload. Not many options (that weigh). Some examples- 4x4 300#, moon roof 51-64#, access steps 63#, skid plate 28#, tailgate step 40#
what options could you not live without?
I towed 6500# boat with 2WD non-slip diff for years; state park roads, very steep/wet/slick ramps with rear wheels in the water. My wife and I are not adventure campers and would park vs tow in snow/ice.

I know this is the towing forum, but I would suggest also posting in the F150 section. I’d say there’s a good chance there’s at least one thread that has random payload stickers posted in it…
