Hello, I am trying to locate a replacement for the clock spring in the steering wheel on my 1992 E350 Cutaway Dually RV with no air bag but with cruise control. Anyone know of a source? Thanks Prof
If it has no airbag it has no clockspring
You are looking for a horn contact plate (that also has the cruise contacts)
This is a black plastic plate with 3 brass or copper contact rings that screws to the back of the steering wheel
Still you may have a real hard time locating one
I have a few new ones kicking around but are for Mustang T-Bird
Once you find a number look on ebay
Good luck
The other side of the contact plate are spring loaded wires in the turn signal; switch (pull the steering wheel off and check both parts)
You may just need a new turn signal switch
here is s pic of the contact plate and one of the steering wheel with it installed
Pic is of an F series and the plate is for a Taurus
You be asking about Motorhome as the parts boys will have no listing for a cutaway chassis most likely
Actually this tilt column 1992 ford E350 DOES use a clock spring. The unit contains a long flat plastic ribbon with copper flat leads. I have replaced the broken one with one of my 1995 e350, but it too has problems. I am actually trying to source a supplier of the copper ribbon and will try to solder the end terminals creating a new unit.
