What is the better type of door weather stripping, traditional solid or hollow core? The hollow core is a bit more expensive but I hear it gives you an easier closing door with good sealing. What are others experiences?
I too used hollow, but only because I was advised to by folks here. I almost laughed at the word “seal”. Does that mean “keep some of the rain out?” Because that’s what my doors do.
Someone must surely have tried using a more modern P seal that attaches to the cab instead of the door? Can't remember seeing anyone mention it though.
The reason that the hollow core style is so popular is that it means that you can close the door without slamming it. A properly adjusted door seals just fine with the hollow core and/or the solid core. I use a dollar bill to test the seal on my doors...close the door on the bill and then pull it out. If it slides out too easily the fit is loose, if you can't pull it out then the fit is too tight. Many times I have seen cabs and/or doors that are tweaked and need to be aligned...trying to get weatherstrip to fit properly without getting this fit right is like arranging deck chairs on the Titanic.
