Had two little places on my arm that ended up being squamous cell carcinomas ... one about the size of a dime and one the size of a nickle...just ignored them for a few months till I finally went to skin doc
removed them both and put me on inactive list for about a month...no lifting, straining, pulling ...keep it elevated and iced for a week or so... and I got some neat scars coming
I'll back him up. I had a tiny little pimple sized thing that never went away. Biopsy made it a dime sized hole. Biopsy came back and mohs surgeon left an incision on my face from just below my eye almost to my lip to get everything. Good thing I'm no supermodel.
Glad you got it taken care of. Thanks for the reminder.
SPF 15 was first made in 1985. SPF 30 not until the early 90's. Think how many hours you spent in the sun working construction, playing sports with or without "suntan lotion." Or as my wife and her friend Reminisced recently that they would lay in the sun with baby oil on their skin.
Agree. My arms, back scalp, neck, and legs look like a patchwork quilt. I've had melanoma and Mohs surgery on the face. I am on a three month examination schedule now. The doctor tells me the damage was done many years ago when I was much younger and dumber. Three pictures for your viewing pleasure. Interesting that most of my damage is on my left side where I drove with the window down and arm resting on the door sill years ago, prior to vehicles being air-conditioned. Of course, as a kid it was the spring ritual to get "tan" which usually include getting sunburned.
I've had 4 basil cell spots on my back and 1 on my face.
spent many summers when I was younger never wearing a shirt. Getting burnt so bad sometimes that I would get blisters and the outer layer would peel off.
I had these spots on my face... old age spots. Dermatologist told me 33% could become cancerous if left untreated. She gave me a script for a topical gel to put on my face for one month. She said I would hate her as it would hurt. Boy, did it ever. I could not put a T-shirt on without pain. It hurt when I laid my head on the pillow at night. After 1 or 2 applications. You can see the spots after about 2 weeks
And now... my face is as new as a baby's bottom! LOL

If that last picture is as new as a baby's bottom I think you might have diaper rash...
Just had some cut out of the cheek on Wednesday (12 stitch's), In two weeks will have some remove from the ear. Have never used sun screen but it looks like I need to start. Always felt since I very seldom get sunburned regardless how long I'm outside I was good.
Abe, doesn't that treatment stay that red all the time?? bet you got some strange looks at the Walmart !! My dermo wanted to do that to my head years ago, but I declined...had heard about the pain
My doctor prescribed Tolak which works to prevent Keratosis from developing into cancer. It is nonpainful and seemed to do the job on my scalp.
John, My surgeon makes a prettier stitch than yours.
Yup , been there done that a few times . If out in the sun Sun Screen , Sun Glasses , long sleeves & a wide brim hat . Wish some one would have old ne this 50 yrs. ago .

It stayed that red almost the whole month. When I stopped applying the ointment it gradually cleared up. I chose to begin it the month of January. I didn't go anywhere. I didn't substitute teach that month. I went to church but arrived late, sat in the balcony and left early.
