8 MPG isn't unreasonable with your setup by 6 seems pretty low even with a head wind. I have a 7.3 with an 8k camper and averaged 9-10 MPG even with wind on my way home last weekend, granted it was only 100 miles so its a small sample size but you should be well above 6 unless you're climbing hills all day into the head wind or driving 80+
I agree with this. I towed a 26' Whaler across country with a 2008 5.4L F150 ans average around 8 mpg at 72, sometimes as low as 5 across TX with a strong headwind and what was probably 100 mph off the nose.
Toward a 16,500 pound boat across rhe US at 72 mph and averaged 8 for the trip, that was with a 2020 6.7L. Also towed an empty 26' cargo trailer and averages 11.5 at 72. The trailer prob weighted 2500 pounds.
It comes down to terrain, frontal cross section and weight to a lesser extent.
[QUOTE=Aynsley683;20446125]But do the gas stations actually take all the tax money off of the price at the pump? The Gov is giving up a lot of money when you add it up from the whole state they have to find from somewhere else , yes may not be much to individual]s but it’s something.
edit-I’m foreign so don’t vote for either party, which ever your gov is makes no difference to me.[/QUOT
If one were to loss there job and was forced into a lesser paying job they would have to cut back on expenses. The government can do the same and return some of the money that was earned by taxpayers and forfeited to the government.
