Help needed in Olympia WA - 2006 F150 5.5
Hi Folks -
I have some good friends traveling back from a wedding in California to their home in Canada who are currently having problems with their 2006 F150 5.4 (gas, not flex fuel) and are stranded near Olympia WA, about 2500 miles from home. Local garages/dealers have told them 4-6 WEEKS to help them diagnose their truck's problem. I'm hoping someone local might be able to assist these nice people and help them on their way.
From what I understand, the truck is throwing a P0308 misfire code and running rough. Mileage is around 150K. Spark plugs were changed before the trip, but #8 spark plug looks trashed. John, the owner and competent mechanic, replaced the spark plugs on the road but it was running rough again within 10 or so miles. He also switched coil packs, but the problem has persisted. He's getting a compression tester and boroscope in an attempt to rule out catastrophic problems.
Anyone who is willing to help these folks out on the road, please call John at 415-271-6173. I'll relay any messages posted here, too, as their internet access is spotty. Good will is worth more than gold these days - be safe out there everyone!
