Newbie.. with a problem!

Hello everyone, I have a 97 E150 with a 4.6. The problem I am having is a misfire or bucking under load. I have changed the spark plugs twice, replaced the plug wires, cleaned the MAF, changed the tranny fluid and pcv. I have no DTC's and its driving me crazy. The Engine has >200,000 miles does not smoke or burn oil and will rev freely with no load. But when under load usually stutters right before shifting into 3rd or 4th most noticeable on the highway going into OD. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Victor <O

Welcome to the forum.
What brand of plugs did you use? Motorcraft or Autolite double platinum plugs work the best in these engines. Also, have you changed the fuel filter lately? You may also need the injectors cleaned.
One other possibility is one of the coil packs is getting weak.

Thanks for the reply, I forgot to tell you I did change the fuel filter, and I used autolite spark plugs the second time I changed them, bosch the first. I was wondering if the coils were becoming weak if they would trip a code. I guess I should get the injectors cleaned after 200,000m.

Thanks again, Victor

Usually the coils will cause the CEL to light. You may scan it for codes anyway, there may be one stored in the PCM.
