If your using the fork. What about hammering it in tight.... Then hitting the threaded rod where you cut it off with a punch? While its under stress from the fork....A little heat on the rod too.
I dont like beating things. Thats why I prefer the puller.
And if yours is anything like mine, no amount of heat, penetrating oil or banging is going to work. Almost like the two types of metals fused inside the tapered hole. The stud is tapered and the hole is somewhat tapered. I used an air drill to give me the best space advantage. Stepped up the bit size and the remnants of the stud eventually fell right out.
