You could always toss aluminum carb heads on with one if those EFI throttle body deals, tune with Stinger's Megasquirt to keep E4OD if you prefer the auto. I bet you would gain economy and stupid power.
Anyway, there is a thread in the 87-96 section about a guy porting EFI heads. I think the major cork was the tiny OE exhaust valves. I swear I saw a dyno around 280rwhp. Stock 7.3DI is about 180 and tuned on 90cc sticks does 220s I think.

I'm having trouble finding a 460 with a manual trans. I prefer the manual trans.
Depending on how big you go on power they are very stout. Usually a good billet TC and shift kit and big 6.0 cooler and it will pretty much laugh at what you throw at it.
@Dmco has a nice BTS one so he might be able to chime in.
I think @oldbird1965 has a John Woods and he tows pretty heavy and it laughs at what he throws at it.

Yes, yes it is. Very stout transmission, keep her cool and add a triple disc low stall converter and your set. Mine lasted well over 800k on regular maintance. And I'm no gramps when I drive, I literally used to look like Rat Flink when I drove my truck, even when towing heavy stuf. My new reman trans from Vatozone has held up great so far.
(Edit: 2.4k each bundle of 5/8 dens deck and there's 6 of them and 4k trailer)19k lbs trailer and load only. Stop and go city drive
15k lbs load trailer and cargo

Sick truck dude!😎
Thx for the advice as well.
Also, what wheels are those?
Raceline Stone Cushers 16x10 on 285 75 16 Tires.
found them in a junk yard on a flipped over OBS Chevy, well used and beaten up, had to sand and polish them to get to look decent, center caps just your aftermarket OEM Hub caps for the OEM Alcoas out trucks came with.

Been trying to find a new set of them with the same offset as these, but is hard to find now, mostly because those big wheels are "popular" well not for me like old **** on my old **** lol.
Did find these "Halo" wheels locally and they have a couple of sets but not the right offset like I mentioned.
Also was looking for my wife's 00 f250, but the offset no bueno lol.
i have both. 88 IDI with banks turbo and 496,000 miles on it, and 02 powerstroke with 194,000 miles on it.
i would not hesitate to drive either cross country.
the 88 IDI is my baby, the powerstroke is my beater toy.
