Odd Electrical issues?

Well I have slowly been servicing my 2001 Excursion V10 since purchasing it back in February.

The usual stuff.... all the engine fluids, the drive belt, cooling hoses, new brake pads all around, diff and transfer case fluids. Plugs, air filter, etc.
With gas prices like they are, I have not been driving it much. (sniff sniff)

And I have come across a couple odd things that may or may not be related.

1. The electric doors do not lock or unlock reliably. Sometimes the key fob (new) wont do them. Sometimes the rocker switch wont. Then they will work fine. Or only half-way lock/unlock.

2. The heated seat indicator lights will illuminate on both the drivers and passenger seats.... but the seats wont heat.

3. The truck came with an aftermarket stereo head unit. (A nice one). But the stereo turns off when you turn off the engine. My 07 Expedition radio would keep playing until you opened the door. I do notice that the running board light remain illuminated for about 10 minutes unless you lock the doors.

Anyone wish to chime in on these?

1. Probably failing actuators.
2. Probably open seat heating elements.
3. Probably was wired up directly to power off the ignition switch instead of the accessory delay relay (which may have failed).

1. I didnt describe it well enough.... ALL of the doors partially unlock. Like there is not enough current to lift them up. So .t is doubtful all of the door lock actuators fail at the same time. Any other ideas on this?

2. So the on/off button for the heater switch also controls the elements? I would have thought they went through a relay.

3. I will replace the accessory delay relay and see what happens. The new radio has a professionally made pigtail to mate with the factory harness. I'll check it too.

The radio wiring diagram is available.... but I have yet to find a diagram for the heated seats or many of the other accessories.
Electrical problems are fun!

Think 2001 is same as 2002 wiring diagram? If so page 119-1 in pdf is for the heated seats. I would start with the ground, because interesting enough, the heated seats share a ground (g900) with the door locks actuators. You can find the location on page 151-31 but unfortunately they show it on an extended cab model. Hope this helps.

There were very major electrical system changes between the 01 and 02 model years. I wouldn't rely on the wrong year's diagrams.
