Lock doors with engine running

Is there any way to lock the doors from outside with the engine running? I guess its a feature that the truck will not let the doors lock from the outside while the key is in the ignition to prevent a lock out. I would like to be able to start the car in the morning, lock the car, then come back and unlock with the keyless entry pad. This is so I can warm up the truck in the freezing cold and not worry about my truck getting swiped by someone.

I do this with my '07 Navigator from time to time. Just guessing, but do you have the auto-locks turned on? Maybe this would keep you from being able to lock them and walk away.

Not sure if your Expy works the same as my '06 F150 but here's what I do:
Key in, start truck.
Hit the power "lock" button on inside of door panel
Wait 1 second for the driver door lock to pop back up
Manualy depress driver door lock up on the window sill
Close door

That locks my truck and allows me to use the keypad to unlock the truck when I'm ready to head to work. Again cannot speak to whether or not this will work for you, but I'm throwing it out there.

Manually lock the door by push down the lock plunger. Just make sure you can unlock it from the outside too. So the first time I would have the window down.

It will allow you to lock it if you use the lock button on the key fob.

On my 06 I start the truck and then close the door and just hold down the last two buttons on the keypad to lock it. I do it every morning and when I run in some place real quick and want to leave it running. I used to have the remote separately but got sick of it rattling so much when I put them together. Hope this helps, Mike

I'm pretty sure the [7/8] & [9/10] buttons on the outside door will lock the truck with the engine running or not.

But it ain't below -20°F often enough here on the North Coast to bother with this. Who'd have thought it's get so much colder in NJ!

No its not that cold in NJ either. The wife warms up the truck in the morning so she can put the baby in a warm vehicle.

I confirmed [7-8] [9-10] buttons will lock the running vehicle at the convenience store last night. Should work for you too. I'd ensure I had a spare key, however, just in case!

No. Autolock will lock the doors when you go over 12mph or so. The "Auto Unlock" is a feature to keep you from locking your keys in the car by accident.

Glad it worked, I came across it when I got sick of separating my keys so I could leave the ignition on (truck running) and keeping the FOB with me. We don't get cold like most of ya'll - but I use it for the heat. More importantly, when it gets hot down here - I gotta have the truck cooled off before the girls get in it. Thanks, Mike
