I am certain you message was intended as only a joke. It could not possibly be taken as serious. Your message relates only to ACCIDENTAL deaths of guns vs doctors.
Please provide similar statistics of INTENTIONAL deaths by doctors vs guns. Might your number change?
Odds On 21
Intentional or unintentional-dead. It points out that there are an incredible number of incompetent docs. MD should not equal Minor Diety, but instead "can you trust my ability?"

I seem to remember back around the early to mid 70's that the MD's in NY went on a strike (nothing but emergencys) for some reason, don't remember what, but what I do remember is that during the period of the strike the death rate dropped somewhere in the of 50% or so range. They kind of shot themselves in the foot. It pointed out to me just how dangerous DR's can be.
Why is it if your mechanic screws up you can get him to fix his mistakes for no cost to you(most of the time). If a doctor screws up it costs you and costs you. As a whole I do not dislike doctors, in fact the one we use as a family doctor is great. I just think that if you screw up fix it and don't charge us again.

What's the alternative? Do it yourself? How many of you would refuse treatment by an MD if you required it?
We're all human, I think the medical profession as a whole does an incredible job under increasingly difficult circumstances.

I gotta admit I love doctor's and I love the services they do. Just like Waxy said, where would we be without them?
But, I think you got the wrong point here Waxy. All these anit-gun people are beating a dead horse so to speak. They try and say guns should be outlawed because of the killing they cause. With the original point in this thread more lives are lost to doctor's than guns. So then the death ratio point is invalid to outlaw guns. I think we all appreciate Dr's right? Anyways, if I'm wrong, I apologize.
while I do not propose to speak for the majority, I would like to say that on a number of occasions I have sought out a veterinarian in preference to seeking an MD.
I will admit that it was based more on geographical considerations than a general distrust or disdain for MD's. I absolutely believe that *virtually* all MD's do the 100% honest level best they can MOST OF THE TIME. That isn't good enough for me given what I personally have seen of MD to patient ratios in the public domain.
Ask yourself; why on Earth would anyone want to be a Veterinarian?"
. . I'll take my (health) chances with that answer.

I have had 2 family members pass on because of misdiagnosis. My fiancee had 1 family member pass on for the same. All 3 had cancer. All 3 were misdiagnosed. All 3 were told there was nothing wrong with them at the first visit. All 3 got severely worse within a MONTH! By then, it was too late. My aunt lived for another 2 years, my cousin lived for about 9 months, and her uncle lived for about 8 months.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate doctors. I just won't be visiting the 3 referred to above. The doctor I have now, I've had for 10 years, and he took over from my previous doctor who knew me from birth. So I think it has to be a long term business relationship.
On a lighter side, how many people have died from doctor accidentally shooting them?
If I need a bypass surgery, cancer treatment, or even a prescription for antibiotics, I think I'll stick to the guy with specialized training in HUMANS.
