Battery AMP light intermittent
1 from cargeek.com $50 replacement
1 from oreillys Dorman $160 replacement
Both appear to have the same amount of connectors but there is a major price difference.
To me this is suspect but If the $50 is the same quality as the $160 ill simply return the Dorman.

Then my cluster has an airbag tell tale on the dash where his AMP warning is(wodner why the earlier cluster has 2 warnings???) and its kinda a tan or faded pink kinda color.(May be UV damage, so the color could meant to be something else)
There is also fuse in the fuse box relating to airbag somewhere. There is also a visual thickness to the steering wheel,
Some say I have a death trap, 81 F100 as all it has is seat belts LOL
I guess you can say the frame & steering column that will fold up and disc brakes are for safety?

not my thread, but quick question. Do these crash sensors ground to body sheet metal or do they ground through wiring? I had my grille off not long ago for coolant flushing and installing a trans cooler, I notied they were nice and visible while in there.
I have a code 42, which I believe is the cicled sensor has a fault. nothing looked out of order but I was gonna pull the grille off again to check my trans cooler connections to make sure they will stay nice and proper, and I figured if they ground to body then I should pull it off and see(After pulling battery and waiting for a minute)
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
My 77 LTD had 3 point front belts but the rear was lap belts.
Also collapsible columns, dual mastercylinder circuits, nonreflective /non glare surfaces in eye line, disc brakes, hoods with crumble zones(Who wouldnt want to be decapitated by a hood?) , 1975 bumper 5mph impact regulations, non fixed hood ornaments, fused turn signal circuits, gas tank rollover valves, gas tanks(just generally. think pinto)
spongy dashes(dumb idea), passive restraints(loophole which brought us the automatic seatbelt, thank god we are passed that) headrests (whiplash) non sharding glass, dual action door latches (1st catch is distinct from 2nd/final)
Fun times

What gets me is you will see some posts where some person bought a older truck for their new driver kid and want all the safety items a 2022 car or truck will have and want to know how to do this!
1 they dont know how to work on anything so they would need to farm it out.
2 try and find a shop that will add all that to a older car of truck
3 they want it done for cheap and fast as they need it in a month or 2 LOL
One of the big ones is it has to have power disc brakes. There is nothing wrong with 4 wheel drum brakes if they are gone thru and work like they should.
I have an older v8 car with non-power all drum brakes and it will stop on a dime or lock them up if you want
Sorry we got off what the OP issue was

And I learned really quick to respect vehicle and know your limits etc and now I have an unhealthy lack-of-fear related to dying so I dont stress much about lack of safety features but I try to keep what ones I have working.
Infact on my obs I have put in a suction cup rear view(dumb thing anyway, not the important thing) and I put a wide view mirorr clip on over it. Cant turn it to reduce glare, I would have to tilt it up out of the way, but as i have a single cab It allows me to see a lot very nicely and then the side mirrors can point at the blind spots past what can be seen in that. its also why Im trying to fix the crash sensor lol(plus less flashing at me)
But thats okay, the origianl poster figured it out anyway haha
At 62 and dad working on cars as a body man I have moved and driven a lot of different cars and trucks over the years.
Oldest was a 31 Ford pick up all factory, that was a trip.
For a living I drive a HAZMAT LP gas trailer truck during the winter and a bulk tanker summer.
Going from work truck to my 02 Durango or my 81 F100 is a big change, wife has a 2013 Subaru.
I also have 3 early 70's cars, one a 1/4 mile drag car, so have a mix of stuff LOL

here was my 3rd car, I bought it during HS. I miss it , but no aftermarket or parts available for a 77 LTD. The closest thing you can find parts for is a 1977 town car, and those are kept as treasure. if im not mistaken either fords biggest or the biggest passenger car dimensionally like in big numbers. (LTD, Grand Marquis, Town Car being the same thing)
And the "spear of death" steering shaft that is part of the steering box and runs up through the steering column tube!.
That was GMs solution to the ugly annoying track that ford and imports had, and that was still "passive" was to open the door and walk "into" the seatbelt while entering
I just used it as a regular belt since nothing stopped me and I wasnt going to walk into a web mess to skip a step that takes half a second lol
