I'm considering buying a '94 E-350 Powerstroke that supposedly was running fine but the computer was stolen. I have a '02 Excursion and have access to a '97 F-250 and '00 F-250 that I might be able to borrow the ECUs from. Will any of those work to start the '94? Ideally it would run and drive on it so I can get it home before buying a computer, but if it'll at least start so I can verify that there's no issues that would be better than nothing.
1994 E-350 had the IDI diesel, not the Powerstroke. There was a computer to run the E4OD. There is no computer for the engine.
1995 was the first year of the Powerstroke in the E Series vans.
Thanks, I didn't know that. Maybe he looked at the manufacture year and not model year. Or what was stolen isn't the ECU. I guess I'll have to make another call and see.
I keep forgetting that a lot of people consider the 7.3L, regardless of whether it's a 89-94, a "Powerstroke". Good catch!
I've seen that a lot. The guy didn't advertise it as a Powerstroke or even a 7.3, it just says diesel. Since he talked about the missing computer I assumed it is a Powerstroke. I also assumed the E series got Powerstrokes at the same time as the F series.
