Well, Ford Pass app had a message offering a 1000 point bonus for reactivating my navigation and I decided to go ahead.
Decided I can't stand looking at the screen without the nav fully working, plus I like being able to look at the weather maps.
And, I'm not a big fan of google maps, aggravates me every time I use it.
So, anyway, hooked on the connected nav for at least the next year now.
Now in process of wrangling the Ford Pass app people about adding the points, they don't seem to know about the promo.
Girl finally came back on and she says it takes 3-4 weeks for the points to show up, we'll see...
For what these trucks cost, I think Navigation maps should be available without having to spend extra money to activate them every year etc. I could possibly see an added cost for the weather maps and traffic conditions, but your already paying extra for Navigation to start with.
I subscribed after my trial expired in December. At least you got some points. I will say I’ve been happy with it so far, and bounce between Ford, Maps, Google, and Waze. I do the hot spot thing with ATT too. I just like having that satellite available when I need it. All the manufacturers are charging, so what the hay!!

Yeah, I subscribed to the hot spot back before mine ran out, doubles up on my available networks for internet and phone service since I keep wifi calling turned on on my phone. Booger is that AT&T throttles my connection on the wifi since I use so much. They claim they don't but after 2 days of constant use while I'm on the road and about 45 gig's of data they shut me down. I just got a new 5G phone, and T-Mobile claims they have service along most of my routes, so we'll see how that works out.
Fixing to head out on a trip tomorrow, see how things work out.
I will pay whatever the cost is. I live and vacation nowhere near network coverage, so a cell phone and google maps aren't an option.
That's one thing I do like about Android-Auto and Google maps ... don't need to use cell phone data nor access to cell service. The maps you need can be downloaded to your phone (free) and Android Auto uses those maps for navigation without using your phone's cell service data. I consider weather data worthless and traffic data means little in remote areas. I'm a cheap b@$tard and refuse to pay annual fees for services which can be had for free.

Well...C-F-I-Care!
Been waiting for a good one like that to use that on!
I'm not sure howe to download them, then. I get a whopping 4 mbps of internet at my house, and no cell service.
Well, you can switch your phone to wifi calling if you haven't already, 4Mbps is enough for that to work, then you can use it to make calls from your house.
And, you have to have the internet to be able to download anything, like a google map, but after that you would have the map for one destination, but without traffic or road work or closure warnings.

You can download multiple maps to your phone. You're not limited to one single map download.

If traffic info is worth $70/year to you, go for it ... see if I care (LOL).

But, I may not know ahead of time that I will need those other maps, or possibly a detour.
And, it is $80 a year.
But I don't have 4 or 5 different TV subscriptions or cable/satellite like most people do these days, or smoke or drink so I can do $80 a year for this.
You don’t need cell service you can download maps before you leave
I use Gaia GPS I downloaded maps and spent two days and the Nevada desert where there was no cell service but I had maps of jeep trails and roads
You can also download Maps to Magic Earth and use those without cell service

For 22 cents a day it is worth every penny for me. So far the navigation has been flawless. Got a couple of longer trips coming up later this year. I will see how well it does then.
