2018 F250 XL 6.2. I've got a musty smell coming from the A/C. Floor mat is not wet. Elbow is installed. Cabin filter is new. The truck has 100K on it and spent its life in central Florida. I'd like to clean the evap coil. Provided I don't have to disassemble too much to get at it. I looked for access when I changed the filter but didn't see any.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure the instrument panel has to come out, then the airbox with the heater core and evap has to come out to even take the box apart. Had to replace evap on 2011 escape since it had a hole in it. Ended up buying the whole air box as a unit. Instrument panel had to come out as well as center console, etc. It's doable, but figure a lot of time.

I bought my '19 used from Enterprise. Once the deodorizer wore off there was some nasty smells coming from the AC. I changed the cabin filter and ran a ozone generator a couple of times. No problem since.
I would have tried the Lysol but wasn't aware of it at the time.
When I start my '21 I get a blast of really musty air for just a few seconds till the air starts circulating. Carpet not wet, AC works great, just smell from the condenser like in A-Rods video above. Today I removed the cabin filter, ran the fan on high, and gave it a few blasts of Lysol which were sucked into the system. Replaced filter with new motocraft FP-92.
In A-Rods video he is spraying through the outside vents, which means the filter is capturing most of the spray. Figured I'd try it this way...

Find the evaporator drain port
Purchase a evap cleaning kit
Insert tube into port & release can contents
Wait 15 minutes & let drain
Turn on truck ac fan on low for 5 minutes
That should help clean the coil
In this video Arod drills a tiny hole in the back of the evaporator, behind the coil and foamed it. After seeing him do this, I would do this in the future if I had to.
Ive been doing fabreeze trick when I change cabin filter annually. What helps the most, is turning AC off and fan high about 5 min before putting truck in the garage.
