mallory active power filter help

hey guys quick question, i recently bought an 80 f150, had to replace the coil in it and ballast resistor, it has the mallory unilite dist in it with the active power filter, my question pertains to that filter. i know for a fact my coil is bad, so i got a new accel 8140, but what i dont know is if the filter is still good, is there a way to test it just to be sure? i did a continuity test on it using a volt meter but other than that i have no idea what to do. can the filter go bad? im just worried im gonna put this new coil and old filter and the filter is gonna be bad and ill fry either the new coil or dist. any help is appreciated.

Any electronic part can go bad. I just checked the Mallory site and didn't find anything about testing it.

I say leave it in and if it doesn't start, then remove it and try to start.

Filter might fry the Unilite if shorted/bad, but should not affect the coil.

After seeing it, I may get one for my Unilite.
