How can you tell a 360 from a 390 without measuring the stroke? Is the flywheel end of the crank different? If you pull the pan how do you tell a 360 crank from a 390 crank? Someone told me the cranks are different where the flywheel/flexplate bolts on. Are there any good aftermarket headers you can use with an FE engine in a '76 F250 4 X 4 that will clear everything with no modification?
Seems like it would be easier to measure the stroke than to pull the pan unless the motor is locked. The flange is not a reliable indicator as they changed over the years. A later 390 crank will just have a 2UA or 3U marking like this
