Theoretically, the rear spoiler would be deflecting some air downward to help fill the vacuum void behind the EX at speed. In reality, most spoilers like that have more drag than the vacuum filling they can provide. I’d say it’s a wash at best, but as said above it does help to keep the rear window cleaner. And if you were to remove it you will have some holes in the hatch to deal with, not worth it my opinion.
this is what I used when I was towing my TT. Gained .5mpg by using it and got rid of the bugs plastered on the front of the trailer. .5 may not seem like a lot, until you’re on a 4K mile trip. The savings add up quick!
