Building a Beast

I've been fantasizing about this truck for a few years now and I'm finally gonna buy my dream in September. I've never owned a diesel so I'm still new to the game and still trying to understand everything.
I want to build this truck from the ground up. I wanna push 6 7 or 800 hp while also keeping it reliable. I've heard alot of things to change out or upgrade but so far my plan is to rebuild the motor right out of the gate just so I have a good foot in the door. Before I put the motor back in I wanna replace the coolant system and the fuel system so I have new fresh fluids. I plan on a bigger turbo as well. Haven't even went down that hole yet so I don't have an idea on what size. I do want bigger injectors, again I have no idea what size. My question is, what size turbo and injectors would be a good combination of having ***** while also keeping the truck reliable

Welcome to the diesel club. Honestly, it's more headache than you'd probably think. Is it worth it? To me, no. To others, yes.

I kinda have a love hate relationship with my 7.3 but I'm learning a lot and having a lot of fun. The fun usually stops when I lose a gallon of oil on the highway due to one bad o-ring, or when I'm pulling a mountain pass and it quits and throws a CEL for a CPS, etc.

For info regarding fueling and air, check out this fullforce article:

(I'm biased--I'm running FFD 180/0s and I love them)
https://1023diesel.com/full-force-di...caAifMEALw_wcB

I've also consulted this:
https://1023diesel.com/blog/choosing...l-powerstroke/

Pay close attention to your fuel system. It's the weakest link in any vehicle, honestly. Likewise, make sure you fight block temps accordingly.

I have a buddy who had a super duty 7.3 on twin turbos. That is probably the way you're gonna want to go, especially if this is a full build.

Have a reputable performance shop build the **** out the long block, and dress it (it would be hype if you took the little bit of time and powdercoated everything under there to look pretty) all outside of the truck and just drop it in one unit.

This is venturing into foreign territory to me but those are my .02.

Cheers!

You should call the folks at @bitterroot they are building a next gen set of injectors that will give you the range you are looking for

I talked to Andrew today about bringing over the Bass injectors. We are very close to setting an install window with live tuning.

Just gotta understand stock to 600 is a big difference. A bigger difference from 600 to 700 and even bigger from 700 to 800. Unless you’re going to the drag strip to make money off the truck, 600 is more than plenty. But even still you’re looking at probably 20-25k in the engine alone

valve springs pushrods probably connecting rods and ceramic coated pistons to be safe if you want to be high power and probably totally balanced assembly. T4 turbo setup adrenaline hpop or duals if you want more than 700hp probably. E fuel, injectors with tuning, cups. All the injector harnesses and glow plugs/relay. Ipr ICP and cps for safety manual will need a clutch and probably a stock rebuild at least. Auto will need totally built up. Headstuds and probably plenty more in forgetting

I've put about 20-25k into mine including the transmission upgrades, suspension, bushings, and engine mods... Still better than the price of a new truck, it would've been nice to be able to order the right parts from the start instead of trying to do light upgrades then go big. I'm below 500hp and the power is enough for me, it's fast and will pull anything I've ever pulled...
That's a big number to shoot for, it can and has been done.... but it all depends on what you want to do with the truck too, that's the big question, I had trouble answering that for a while - main objective was work horse for me though.
