I know this has been beaten to death but in all my searching I have not seen an answer to my query. I have a 21 f250 . It seem to me that there must be a wire that when in regen mode, would be constantly energized such as the def pump or another widget involved. A guy could just simply hook up an idiot light to indicate regen activity by tapping into said wire. I just thought I would ask here before spending hours finding and looking at schematics of the system. Anybody have any thoughts on this? I know I could just watch the mileage but that is not what I am after. Just want a simple idiot light.
The newer trucks, from 2017 and up to the 2022s, do not flash an indicator like the 2011 to 2016s. I use a Banks iDash. There are other digital monitors like Edge. Some use the FORscan app with a old phone, their phone or a laptop. There's also the Torque app. There are threads here. Just use the forum search field.
I use a iDash to monitor Regens, I also have a Android phone with ForScan Lite, which can do the same.
2021 F350.
Regens about ever 500mi or close to that.
As far as I know there is no wire that becomes hot when regen is active. There is only a PID that is turned on. So some sort of OBDII device is needed to see it. It would be so nice if they simply had an indicator on the dash.

On my 22 there is no indicator that the truck is in regen, other than watching the DPF% screen (slowly) drop. I also use a Banks iDash, which does show the regen status.
I just wish the iDash looked better, I hate that it's a tiny little pod screen. I have an Edge CTS2 but it's only for 2019 trucks and older, so it doesn't work on my 22.
The newer CTS3 is supposed to work but I don't know if it has all the monitor parameters that the Banks one does.
It would be nice to know when it's in regen though.
As far as the iDash, I think it looks fine, however I am not thrilled about the way it’s mounted. I like the mounts that attach to the vent (not in the vent) but they’re a bit expensive. I figure I’ll eventually pony up for this option. But for now, I am using the Banks suction cup pod mount and will LOUDLY AND BOLDLY tell folks not to spend your money on it. They are so cheaply made it’s pathetic. The first one I bought has already fell apart in less than 5 months. They sent me another one, claiming that the first one was a temporary unit they used when supplies were low, but this one i’s just as cheap and flimsy as the first. Don’t spend $40 on their mount, just spend $7 for the knock offs on Amazon if you are going to use the suction cup pod mount.
I use the Edge CTS3 on my 2020 and it works fine. Little green light comes on when the truck goes into regen. It seems to do everything my CTS2 did on my 2015 and 2017 trucks
That's nice too Scott. I need to read up and figure out more mounting options. I am not thrilled with where mine is mounted, but it works. That A pillar mount, or the vent mount would be nice. Do those A pillar mounts just clip on?

I've got to admit, I've had ZERO issues with the suction cup mount that came with the iDash. While I do like the other options, the suction cup works for me.
I do like that the 11 to 16 PIDS have a fuel pressure PID, from the primary pump on the frame at the HPFP. With the 17 plus and the in tank pump, you lose that PID from what I understand.

Reason: Add to post
theoretically, the only physical layer signal would be the tremendous heat increase....but it would be difficult to convert the small microvolt signal into something that would light up.
the Idash or related is a good option.
also some version of tablet+forscan
I tried to turn on my regen % info but got the netorious camera fail followed by all the traction control, ABS, hill decent, hill accent idiot lights which all went away after revering forscan to defualts.
