I am at wits end. I've tried everything I know to get my cargo light working and don't know what else to do. I have known good bulbs, all fuses are good (although they do not show a fuse for the high mount stop and cargo light) but I am not getting any voltage to the sockets for the cargo lights, the high mount stop light works. Please tell me what else I should check because I need help. Is there anything in the power distribution box under the hood that I need to check?
I know I'm stating the obvious here, but it sounds like you have a broken wire.
I would remove the light from the cab (the whole light assembly - not just the cover/bulb), check the color of the wire running to the cargo light and then start looking under the dash for a wire matching that color.
I would then verify that the matching wire under the dash has power when the conditions are such that the cargo light should be on (door open, dimmer turned up all the way, etc.) to verify that it does indeed go to the cargo light.
If it is the right wire, I would then check the continuity of the wire from where it has power to the light itself. If it doesn't have continuity, then you probably have a broken wire....
To further verify this, I would tap into the wire under the dash and run a temporary patch wire out the door and up to the cargo light to make sure that the problem isn't the light socket itself.
