2012 F250 third light

I've been reading on other sites where folks have had problems losing the wire when working on or replacing the third light on their trucks. I'm replacing mine soon with an LED version, so, any tips on how to keep this easy and not cause myself unnecessary headaches? Or, are these other folks that incompetent. This SHOULD be about a difficulty level 1 upgrade, but having stumbled over some of these horror stories as I have been shopping has cause me to investigate further before starting.
Anyone have a suggestion for quality LED upgrade light. Just too many junk products out there these days so your experienced input is appreciated.
THANKS!

If you're afraid of loosing the wire when you unhook it, put a long zip tie around it.

I assume that you are referring to the third brake light, or center high mount stop lamp. I just did this on my 2015 a few weeks ago and it's extremely simple. There are three separate bulbs that plug into that housing, so if you are worried about losing the wiring harness, leave one of the lights engaged in the housing while you work on the others. I had to unplug the passenger side cargo light in order to be able to replace the brake light, but left the driver side cargo lamp in place the whole time.
