HEI probelms
I have an aftermarket GM copycat HEI distributor in my 302. Seems like it goes thru a couple modules every year. I drive accross town and no start. change module and then starts and maybe goes 3-6 months. Is there a good brand out there I should be using? The original one lasted 4-5 years then this ongoing problem. Or should I look at the coil or replacing distributor. I added an extra ground into the base of the distributor. I cleaned and reinstalled all ground straps also. Thanks for any input.

In my Ford HEI's I always remove the CHINA ones that come with the unit and I go to my local NAPA and get one made in USA and always have great luck with them it is a GREAT distributor to use with the USA made part

I don't think even the main auto parts stores modules are made in the USA.
I had a heck of a time with the aftermarket distributor in my 460 F1 burning out modules (all makes) until I realized that it was the hot soak after shut down that was causing the problem.
The trapped hot air could not get out until I louvered the hood and left the cooling fan run for a few minutes after shut down.
