I got the wiper recall on my 2022 F250 6.7 Platinum. I'm heading out on an 1800 mile trek from Chicago to N. Idaho next week. I don't think parts are available yet to fix it at the dealer. Has anyone heard of bad things happening....like the wiper falling off? I'll be in pretty desolate country heading across the U.S. and it would suck to have it fall off in a rainstorm in the middle of no where. Thanks.
I don't think the problem is with the retention, but more so the possibility of it not holding position(stripping out). I haven't heard of any falling off, and also, the only problems I've seen reported were when snow was involved. So I would say very very very low risk.

I've put 10K or better miles on my truck since the recall with plenty of wiper use and they haven't stopped working yet.
KNOCK ON WOOD!
I just looked at the recall information on our truck, and it says parts won’t be available until late second quarter of 2022, so what are you gonna do? We don’t have many miles on ours, but the one road trip we took it on last fall we drove in really heavy rain for 150 miles with no issues. The wipers also moved some pretty heavy snow off of the windshield a couple of times last winter when I parked it without pulling the wiper arms up. Again, no issues. I guess anything can happen, but I won’t lose any sleep over it.
I took my truck in end of last summer to have the windshield recall completed. When I got it home I climbed up to clean the windshield and found the key laying in the cowl for one arm and completely missing for the other. I called the dealership about it and they said the only issue I could run into is with a heavy snow load or the wipers being frozen to the windshield could cause a problem. Normal operation in the rain or to simply clean the windshield would not cause the wiper arms to strip on the transmission. They replaced the wiper arms months later when the parts came in and then this recall came up so they order new wiper arms again.
I think the mathematical odds of hitting some sort of beast in the road are greater than the wiper thing ruining your trip.
I've nearly hit two deer in the short 5000 miles I have driven my truck.
Go enjoy your trip.
The problem with the wipers is the keyseat for the key in the wiper arm is too wide and the key falls out. Once the key is gone, it doesn't take too long before the knurling on inside the wiper arm strips out and the wiper no longer works. If your arms still have the small keys, use some retaining compound/epoxy/super glue to secure them in the wiper arm. Once dry, reattach the arms to the truck and you shouldn't have any further problems.
Dropped my truck off today for some service work to include the wiper recall issue. The dealer service rep stated Ford has not provided them with all the parts to complete the recall. The rep stated the recall involves replacing the wiper motors and arms. They will have to schedule me a date when the parts arrive
The dealer service rep stated Ford has not provided them with all the parts to complete the recall. The rep stated the recall involves replacing both wiper motors and arms.
Hmm, sounds like it could be more dealer gibberish. That is the first I have seen any mention of the wiper motor being part of the recall. I assume you meant both the wiper motor, and the wiper arms, as there is only one wiper motor.

The service rep did say "wiper motor". I lays odds he meant the wiper pivot assembly's.
