Those sound like high mpgs. You can only post averages for those older trucks.
Please remember how I drive. My 1992 Ford festiva I drove on a 183 mile per week , 90% highway, loop at 55 mph. My 1994 f150, with a 3.08 gear, was a 254 mile 95% highway at 55 mph. The new 5.0 numbers are Ford published. Published fuel ratings are at 70 mph. If you drive 55 mph the savings is 20%. I grew up driving with the national limit of 55 mph. So speed going to work is pointless since I'm always an hour early. My 7.3 at 55 mph saves me one days loop gas. So getting an extra days has for arriving at work 6 minutes late is ok.

So, checked it again this past weekend, ran 538 miles to the fuel stop in Arkansas, and used 24.0 gallons for 22.4 MPG, and this was with some headwinds, so seems to be consistent with the last few tankful's.
The really bright spot was with the trailer I picked up and brought to one of the company partners in Dallas.
It was one of those Keystone Cougar Half-Ton 5th wheels, 10K GVWR, but it was brand new, so completely empty, only weighed about 7900.
But, had an unusual NNE tailwind for a good part of the trip, unusual for the summer, and it for sure was doing better than 13 MPG, although I didn't calculate it because I only buy enough of the high dollar fuel out on the road coming back to Texas to get me where I'm going, don't top it off.
Really great having a tailwind while towing a trailer!
That's awesome to hear! We have been looking at some of those half ton 5th wheels and may upgrade next summer...
And my mpg's are finally starting to come up... however, I am still babying it. Last Saturday I pumped 22.794 gallons with 434.2 miles on the tank... so 19.05 mpg. This is the highest mpg that I have gotten since I got the truck. Since then, I put another 120 or so miles on this tank today, and if I remember correctly the truck was reading 20.4 mpg or so when I shut it off! This is driving mostly 55 mph down 2 lane highways with lots of hills in IA. Also, typically, the morning drive has been with no wind and the evening drive coming home I have headwinds. I'm hoping that when I top it off later this week I will still be above 20 mpg! Also, when watching the live mpg readout on flats, it is easily reading about 23 or 24 ish mpg, but then the hills knock it back down! LOL

I really like the Keystone Cougar Half-Ton 5th wheels the best.
Company has a couple of Grand Design Reflection "150" 1/2-ton 5th wheels, but the Cougar's feel lighter going down the road, much nicer to tow.

The Grand Designs were the others that we were looking at too…
No way!
We have lots more problems out of our Grand Design trailers, much poorer build quality.
Of course, they throw all of these new trailers together so fast it's sometimes a wonder they make it down the road at all.
Well... I have stayed in both, toured them all, built high end custom homes for years and I definitely have a different opinion. I wouldn't buy a Keystone product on a bet myself. Curious what kind of problems you have?

sounds like the new 10spd didnt really improve fuel economy. My 18 f250 ccsb 4x4 with 20s and stock milchelins, and 6.7L. Gets 21.8 mpg. I reset Sunday drove 200 miles on the highway round trip at 72-78 mph.

Define "high dollar fuel"? If your talking diesel? Straight #1? Hmmmmmm

He meant because fuel was so expensive on the road, he only bought enough to get him back to Texas. Once back to Texas he could fill up with lower priced fuel.

My numbers aren't by the dash mpg readout, it is always wrong.
Plus my truck has taller tires, so the dash readout is a good bit lower now than actual mpg's.
Try doing some measured fuel economy tests, although you may be disappointed.
