Transmission selinoid
Hey everyone, I’m a young mechanic and was looking for some help about transmissions. I have a 2004 f-350 6.0 that has a bad Tranny, I’ve been told by the symptoms of it that the forward clutch probably welded itself together so won’t go in any other gear but forward. I know that transmission are very complicated and I’m not sure I can handle a rebuild haha I was looking at just buying a good one if it would be cheaper then trying to find someone to rebuild mine. I found one in my area for 500$ and they said this exactly “ As far as I can tell it's just solenoids. When it was in the truck it would just throw a code for shift solenoid B but it still drove. It just wouldn't shift into overdrive and the tow haul light would flash but if I put a tow tune in it then I could get it to shift into overdrive. I was just going to rebuild it and keep it as a backup“. Would this be a easy fix? Or is it not worth it and try and find a different one? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you

@hossain210 i never scanned for codes on my truck no. But I watched the tow/haul light flash so new something was wrong, then when I tried to reverse it went forward and drives forward in every gear except park. So that’s why I was told it was the forward clutch, would that throw a code?
