My friend has a 2001 F150 Supercrew with the 5.4L and I'm assuming 4r70w transmission. Helping him figure out his problem. He has reverse, 1st and 2nd, but it will not shift into 3rd. He told me it will try to shift into 3rd and then he loses power/momentum. But if he turns on the "Overdrive Off" then it will not even try to shift into 3rd.
I've read where people had problems with the 2-3 Accumulator spring being broke, would this keep it from shifting?
How can I tell if the problem is with the Transmission Shift Solenoid or not?
I am going to go take a look at it this afternoon and was looking for any suggestions to try or check out. Thanks for any help
I'm the friend with the 01 supercrew. With overdrive on the truck will shift into first and second just fine but will shift into neutral when trying to go into third. It will not re-engage second when I let off the throttle unless I turn off overdrive. With overdrive off from the start it will shift to second and not try anyfurther as was stated above.
I appreciate any help that this community can offer, I am trying to avoid going to a mechanic and handing over my wallet. My buddy and I will post any information we gain this afternoon when we dig into the tranny.
