Just relaxin on the sofa...and ring ring ring...another telemarketer. Why can't these people give me a rest??!!!! Every evening...2 or 3 calls. Every day I come home from work...a few messages on my answering machine. I believe there's a number I can call to get my phone # off the boards...Is this true? Oh yeh, does anybody know the phone # of the...errr, what's it called?...national telemarketers association, or something like that. I'd like to ring them a few thousand times. aarrgghh!
www.donotcall.gov I have been signed up since april, and I have never been happier! I used to get ~10 a week. I get maybe one a month now. I suggest it to everyone.
Rich,
You only got 10 calls a week? We used to get 10 calls a day- at least!! I hate those things! And they call up until 10 pm sometimes. I got my name on the list and i still get calls on accasion, but they really dried up!

I've been on the do not call list for awhile now. Its been great. The only thing bad about it is that I have no one to be mean to anymore. I used to really give them damn telemarkers the what for. It was fun to mess with them.
Did anyone ever think about the poor slob that has to be a telemarketer? I mean, what kind of sorry shape do you have to be in to need a job that everyone hates? Not to mention the fact that I have yet to meet anyone who ever bought anything the telemarketer was selling. I mean, I am happy that I am on the list- don't like being interrupted during dinner or during a game (they always tend to call when a great play goes down!!)- but a small part of me always felt a little pity for the poor sap that relies on telemarketing for his or her living.
I'm not advocating the right of them to call, I guess my question is: If nobody ever buys anything from them, shouldn't they eventually just fade away??? Yet they DON"T!!!!!!
Pending on the state you are in, you can put your name on your state Public Utility Commission Do Not Call list or the federal list
w w w . donotcall . gov / default . aspx (take the space out of this link to work)
If you are not happy email me I have a file you can record to your AM to trick the telemarketers computer..

And the winner of this thread is Black88GT for making an outstanding point! Congratulations! You get to be mean to five telemarketers! <the crowd goes wild>
way back in high school...i was one of those poor saps making those calls...you should see the spectable they called employees...felt like i was in the nosebleed section of yankee stadium
You people have to learn to have a little FUN with these folks. For example:
1) Tell them "hang on," then hand the phone to your 4-year old child.
2) Tell them you have to answer the front door, you'll be "right back." Set the phone down- for at least half an hour.
3) When they ask, "can I speak to Bill Stevens?," tell them he's not in. When they ask what time he'll be home, tell them "I'm not sure what time I'll be home." Totally confuses them.
4) If they'r selling ANY kind of home improvement, tell them you have a brand-new house. Or that you live in a cardboard box. Or you've been waiting for them to call ever since you filed bankruptcy.
5) Tell them all purchases have to be cleared with your parole officer first. Then, with a really perverted voice, ask them what color underwear their wearing.
6) Ask them to hold, then put the phone down and while standing next to the handset, pretend you're beating the crap out of your kids or pets.
Be creative- you can really have a lot of fun with this! Life's too short to get all bent out of shape over these people.
