Could anyone help or offer advice on how hard it would be to swap a manual transmission out of my 1990 4x4 300 6 cylinder to a automatic transmission with a 300 6 cylinder out of a 1991 4x4? I have both trucks and am currently in the process of replacing all the body pcs and would like to do this conversion from manual to auto. Thanks for any help and advice!!!!!!!!!!
Dale ,
Lots of work there ... flywheel , may need a new adapter between the trans and transfer case .Possibly a different driveshaft , radiator has to be changed or a trans cooler added . Adding all the linkage to the new trans . I think you ll need a new starter to go with the flywheel ?? May be wrong , but I think they are different.Im sure if I have mised anything others will post it . Fairly big project , Good Luck.

When swapping a 351 that had an automatic tranny
into my 150 that had a T-18, I learned the hard way that the starters were different. The nose on the automatic tranny starter stuck too far into the standard trans flywheel. Halfway as a matter of fact. I was darn lucky I didn't tear up anything seriously.
