Smart Junction Box ??
New (used) SJB installed, same amperage spike that I was getting before. Of course, no guarantees that the used is good. I stayed with it a little more and noted that the spike was happening about 3-5 minute intervals. We are traveling for the next 7-8 days, but I plan on leaving the truck sitting and see if it holds a charge. Either way, I have plans to consult with a shop to see if this issue if enough to cause my dead battery.
No luck getting Pertinent info from a local electrical expert. They were happy to schedule an appointment and charge me at least an hours labor to check it out. I just wanted to know if it actually needed further testing to see if the frequent spike is an issue. Just gonna park it and see what happens after a few weeks. When I previously checked the battery level after sitting unused for around 2 weeks, it still showed about 12.5 volts, which is okay.
I'm in the same boat, wondering if he got it figured out. I've been chasing a parasitic draw for months now on my downtime. Wondering if I should be looking at ordering or finding a sjb.
I have replaced SJB and it did not resolve fuse 5 interment parasitic drain. I disconected then other 2 items that fuse 5 controls and also didn't fix it. This kind-of problem is coming from somewhere else.
Sorry guys, for not checking in on this lately. I never resolved the spike issue, but I haven’t had any issue with the battery being dead either. I’m careful if I know I probably won’t be driving it for an extended time, I put it on the battery tender for protection. I think I just came to the conclusion that it might be normal system checking that causes the spike. Different SJB didn’t help at all, so I just put the original back in.
I replaced my Maf sensor and the evap purge valve the other day and my battery interment spikes are gone. I believe the evap purge valve (positioned behind the throttle body) fixed it. I replaced these items to correct strange start up issues after truck sitting for few day. Anyway, it didn't fix the start up but it did eliminate the interment spike 0.140 mA.
