Unfortunately the motorcraft 110 alternator is on national back order. The dealer said they can order a 6.0 140 amp alternator but they said there are a ton of 140 amp models on the computer. Idk if antic those work with grinding down the bracket or only a few of them. Can I please have some recommendations on a replacement unit. Looking for a dependable unit vs budget model.
Thanks
The larger case alternator will require a slight amount of grinding of the bracket, but it is minimal. Other than that, you can take your chances with a 6.0L alternator from a parts store. Sometimes they are great and sometimes they are garbage.
The Bosch AL7606N is what I went with. Listed as140 amps and only required a little grinding in the saddle and swapped the pulley. If your set on Motorcraft you could try cross referencing the Bosch number.
I ordered a new motorcraft one online after locating a ford reman for the same price. Of course after ordering I saw it's the "service design" which the dealers told me to try to stay away from parts with that designation. Kind of annoying but not much to do at this point besides get the truck operational. Thanks for the replies.

What was the reason given as to why you should "stay away"?
If you are not comfortable with the online order, you most likely still have time to cancel it.
They said it's a part built to a lower standard it comes up more often dealing with brake parts. Of course I'm too ocd to not cancel the order and re pay the shipping for the motorcraft reman FML lol
I am running a TYC (all new, Chinese) from Rock Auto. Purchased in 2013, has always worked well. I bought it literally as an experiment to see if a new Chinese product could work well without issues. I don't really trust anyone's reman....
Rock Auto shows the Motorcraft 110a in stock for $187 + $20 core.
TYC is OEM replacement for lots of stuff. I haven't used them for mechanical parts but have had great luck with other parts (trim, headlights, mirrors, etc) as they are OEM-spec and are of good quality for the parts I have used, plus they were an exact fit.
When I replaced my alternators I went with the larger 6G (6.0L) case. Grinding was minimal as Sous said and the aluminum in that bracket was easy to grind.

@RigCity , if you are interested in the QuickStart alternator that Brian42 mentioned, I have three along with the external rectifier I can let you have. They are all used, two are in working order and one needs rebuilding. I stopped using them after I switched to a Leece-Neville.
