I have a 2001 f250 v10. New solenoid. New battery and new starter. When I turn key to start it just click. Nothing else. Just one click. Any ideas ? Need help.
Battery cables and ends has been replaced and cleaned. Has the volts needed to start. Battery new. Even with cables hook to battery. It still just one click.
First start at the starter/solenoid. Check to see if you are getting voltage to your solenoid signal wire (small wire) when the key is turned. If you see voltage then solenoid/starter is bad. If no voltage to signal wire then we can trace it back from there.
And remember new doesn't mean good. I would trust a part coming off of a working truck before new.

You need to check the voltage at the load (starter motor terminal and engine block) at the time while trying to crank. Just checking it at the battery is not enough, it must be done UNDER LOAD.
If the voltage at the starter does not sag excessively under load and the starter still clicks but does not operate, either the engine is locked (compressor clutch pulley bearing failure is common) or the starter is defective. Remove serpentine belt to check for seized pulleys.

did voltage test on solenoid and starter. Both had 12v. Took starter back and put in new one. It seem to turn at first then stopped. Turnt switch again. Just a click. I removed belt and all pulleys move freely. I even turnt harmonic balance.

Did you make those readings WHILE UNDER LOAD (trying to engage starter)? Have to emphasize that, it is critical for valid test results. Same for the ground from the battery terminal to the engine block?
