Generator ID Help.

I have been trying to figure out what generator I have for years. The last time I had it out, I don't remember any numbers stamped into it.

1962 F100 262ci 6cyl factory installed engine.

I think it's a 30 amp, if I read right the 40 amp didn't come out until '63. The regulator is an aftermarket Western Auto (IIRR) heavy duty per the service manual image. It has the coil springs on the back to make adjustments with.

Any sure way to ID it?

Thank you!
Tom

There is no way to tell if there is no tag on it. Since Ford used the same generators on a gazillion different cars and trucks someone could have bolted either one on there. There might be an ident # stamped into it somewhere the 40 amps were FCE10000A or B9TF10000D.

It's been working fine with the HD style regulator for about 40 years that I have owned it. I guess when I need a new regulator, I'll get another HD?

Thank you,
Tom
