I remodeled this ambulance in high school over 7 years ago, used it for about a year, and it has been sitting since. I am now in the process of getting it running again but have removed some of the audio stuff for other projects. It now all needs to be replaced.
OLD SETUP
MTX 7000 with profile amp
Rockford hpc1369 6x9s(still have 2)
600(300rms) watt 4 channel amp for 6x9s
900(450rms) watt 2 channel amp for sub(still have)
I still have two of the 6x9s and the 900 watt amp
WHAT I NEED
4 6x9s
1 15" sub
Amps for both(could use old one)
I would like to keep this low to mid budget. As long as it sounds equal to or better than the old setup, that is good enough. Any sudgestions?
Man.... I would love to get my hands on a project like that. It would put me in the poor house for sure.
Here's what i would do.
Since you have a RF by-9 set now, just look for another set or similar model on ebay. The amps I would look at the Alpine 4 Ch and maybe match it with a mono amp for the sub.
The sub i would check out.DC Sound Lab They hands down will give you the best bang for the buck. A LVL 3 would do ya for sure, but a LVL 4 is off the hook good.
I looked at the Level 3 and it looks like what I need. I emailed them for prices as well.
I got lucky picking this thing up. Only paied $1000 for it at the county auction. It did need a new engine but it has been a lot of fun fixing it up. everything has been done on a budget and all work done by me and a friend.
Rusty Is the owner of DC He's a good friend of mine and I've seen the subs first hand, and let tell you they are really well built. As soon as I'm caught up from the amp I just got I'm going to order up a pair of LVL 5 18's
That could be one sweet ride for sure...
I actually have never heard of the company that bgalaxy is refering to, but im sure if he says there good then they are.

Rusty is a competitior in DB Drag and he has owned a shop for awhile and a day. His wife and him have been at the top of their class for awhile now. He started this company about a year now and makes some of the best subs for the money.
There is quite a few already putting the sub through their paces over on Steve Meade Designs
hmmmm sounds intresting, I'll def check them out. What kinda pricing is it?
Truck needs newsubs anyway, since some punks helped themselves to my old shatty ones!!!!!
i despise thieves!

Shoot an email over to them, they will either refer you to a local dealer or if there isn't one sell direct.
I hope to order my LVL 5 18's sometime this summer
Well, I ended up getting 2 rockford 6x9s similar to the ones I already have and a 50x4 rms amp(100x4 peak) that matches the one I have from ebay. Only spent $90
I still need to pick up a sub but think I will just get something cheap untill I get the mechanicals in good shape. I might just go ahead and get the DC sub because they are very reasonably priced.
There is a guy selling a Mb Quart RWE 352 dual 2 ohm sub locally for $80. Is this a good sub? It is rated at 700w RMS and my current amp anly pushes 450w RMS. Will it sound OK even though it would be underpowered?
I installed everything this weekend and it sounds better than I expected. The one 15 provides just enough bass and the 6x9s have a good sound as well. I wasn't able to use the alpine head unit beause the cd player wouldn't work but I had a pioneer to put in its place.
I still have to install a new tank for the rear auto leveling air ride suspension and get the injection pump properly timed. In a week or two, I should have the mechanicals finished as well. Fresh paint sometime this summer and it will be finished.
