I put airbags to stabilize the rear. I did the Carli level kit, and just the shocks in the back. It tows my 5th wheel great. If you were to add their rear leaf packs or full leaf spring lift, the towing quality will suffer for sure. The Carli leveling kit will tow just fine.
First off, BAD *** truck!
not true. the add a pack doesnt change the rating. its just multiple leaves instead of the big single overload. its progressive, not harsh like stock. towing with the add a pack is a HUGE upgrade. You only feel the overload when weighed down or on big hits so the add a pack shines with towing.
that being said, i'd still recommend doing the full leaf pack with air bags. lol
I installed Nitto Terra Grappler 295/60R20 on my stock wheels and run them at 50PSI or so in order to take the "bite" out of bridge transitions and such. It really helps. I just air-up to 65 when towing. So far so good over the last 3,000 miles. That said I am still not 100% happy with the short and relatively stiff front end when crawling over the uneven terrain common around here when leaving the pavement or even just in some parking lots and curb transitions. It seems to me that the Carly front end might be the answer with slightly more travel and the improved sway bar. Not interested enough to pull the trigger yet.
