any tug-of-war stories between the big 3???

Does anyone have any stories where they chain up 2 trucks and had a pull off? 4X4 or 2X4. I just read a post where a guy said he pulled a Z71 around with his 2X4 F150 6 cyt.

I had a tow off with my dads 97 Ram 5.9 SB RC 4x4 against my buddies 94 Bronco 5.8 4x4. We chained up and went in 2wd, at first I started to spin (I was in the Ram) and he had a little better grip, but I let off the throttle and slowly got into it again and started to pull him pretty easily. Then we decided to toss them into 4x4 Lo, bad idea. I got into the gas and started to pull pretty easily, but my friends had to scream at me to stop in like 5 feet because all my buddy could hear was stuff clunking around underneat...He ended up ruining his tranny due to a cooling line being clogged and the tranny overheated.

Tug-o-war battles mean nothing in terms of what's the more powerful truck. Whoever catches and keeps traction first/the longest will win.

I agree with Brunko, you could just apply your brakes and let your buddy break his tires loose and then just start pulling him like its nobodies business. Plus it can wreak havoc on your driveline, if your going to do it and make it more interesting, try it on dirt.

this sounds like a fun thing to do if you like replacing u-joints, motor mounts, twisted drive shafts and shattered ring and pinions.

I have a Quicktime video of the the three 1 ton diesel trucks. GM, Ford and Dodge.

I tis very interesting.

Some say it is not real or, at the least, staged.

I'm sure it is becuase it had the Duracrap pulling the PSD & Dodge backwards! The Dodge even stalled out.

If you got Quicktime I can email it to you. I cannot load movie clips onto my FTE webspace.

Bear in mind I have to find it on my other computer so no promises.

is it any wonder that this story includes a dodge, beating a ford...coming from you that is. i do not doubt it happened, but as soon as i saw the thread title, i KNEW there would be a post where a dodge beat a ford... lmao.

anyhoo, good stories! i love hearing these...i would never do it, but i hate fixing things..

you know, ive seen it done before between a certain xcursionm and a certain denali 4x4, can it mess things up? sure it can, both can pull each other, its just a matter of who looses traction first?

Hey Matt, The guy wanted a story, this was the ONLY time I've ever done a tow off, and it was before I had owned my BRONCO. Take a look in my user gallery to see the truck that I just sold 3 weeks ago and had owned for 4 years. This tow off was the only time I had ever done it, but since I now own a Rodeo and my buddies both still own their Ford trucks (91 F150 Nite, and the already mentioned 94 Bronco) Would you like me to do another two off to see if the Fords win? I don't own a pickup truck now and have been looking for a new one, sorry if the Dodge has everything else beat at the moment, wait till the new Titan comes out, 379ft/lb of torque, uh oh that beats Dodge's HEMI with "only" 375.

DUDE, don't take it personally, I honestly was not flaming you, just pointing out something i have been noticing lately, anytime there is an oppertunity, you boast about some dodge or another... i am not so blind to think that if it is not a ford, it is total trash....but i can see when someone is blatantly pro-dodge

as for pissin matches about who has the most torque....blah. if it matters to ya, get a diesel.

"as for pissin matches about who has the most torque...blah. if it matters to ya, get a diesel." - I totally agree but that is what most of these arguments have been over and I can't help but say something pro Dodge because everyone makes it sound like just because the new 5.4 makes decent power down low everything else sucks, when they really don't. Thats why I speak up so much about Dodge, I'm actually going tomorrow (day off) to test drive both the new F150 and the Ram1500 to see which I like better, and for myself which has the most torque, my views may completely change.
