I'm putting my 390 back together and my memory bank ain't workin' to good. All my rods are stamped in numbered pairs on the same side as the tangs, but I'm not remembering which side of the block they were facing when I took it apart. I "think" with the motor upside down and the flywheel side to my left, that they would be on driver's side when flipped right side up. Does it matter? Other than the tangs the rods appear to be symmetrical.
The numbers and the tangs on the bearings go toward the outside of the block. Be sure the chamfer on the rod is toward the fillet on the crank. This is a 429 rod but Fords are all the same.
