Tuner will do the trick, might as well get a custom tune while your at it to improve performance. I use SCTx4

Based on context, assuming you mean the TPMS and not TPS. TPS is the Throttle Position Sensor and you would not want to disable that.
Disabling the TPMS with a tuner? = go for it!

Get a copy of Forscan with the extended licence and a suitable interface and you can set the TMPS to any pressure you want, it can be disabled too but it doesn't have to be,

P.S. Running a higher pressure that factory is no problem at all, you don't have to do anything to the system to prevent a dash light unless the tire sensors are removed from the wheels.

This was my immediate thought as well- if you're going to run a higher pressure why disable the TPMS? Unless the sensors are removed, I'd leave it alone. It'll still tell if pressure gets down to 30-ish.

It's set to each vehicles door placard.

Sorry, yes meant tire pressure sensor. So the sensor only go off if pressure goes below 30psi? So with the load E tires at 50psi it wouldn’t trip it? The TPMS is bad in each rim. I bought the rims used and they never worked.

by setting does that mean at the low pressure to trigger the warning?

guess I need to look into a forscan program

Oohhhh, you didn't say you were replacing rims, only that you were switching to heavier load rated tires. I assumed you were just placing different tires on the same rims hence my "no need to disable" comment. Nevermind.

The sensor is not built into the rim it's either strapped to the inside circumferance or it is in the valve stem, in other words it's an add-on that has to be installed before tires are mounted. These sensors are also battery powered and are manufacturer specific, so with used rims it's a good idea to replace the batteries in the sensors or replace them with new.

Sorry if I made it sound like the sensor was part of the rim. I was going to buy replacement sensors because as far as I could find out the batteries can't be replaced. But not knowing the complete functioning of the sensors, I thought they were set for a high and low pressure value, but sounds like only low pressure value. So I may get new sensors, have the tires broke down and new sensors put in. Can I get the new sensors to register with the truck computer without going to a dealer? It sounds like I should be able to from what I found.

thank you

Yes, I got a set from tirerack.com for my truck when I changed wheels. Follow the instructions in the owners manual to re-learn them to your truck.

(batteries) -TRUE- They're expoxied within the sensor - life expectancy is 5-8 years depending upon wheel rotations (i.e. go dormant/-off- when sitting).

So I may get new sensors, have the tires broke down and new sensors put in.
Get *new* OEM, Motorcraft (TPMS-12). STRONGLY recommend buying from ebaY® seller(s) (less $$$) just pay attention to the seller's feedback.

The procedure (as well as other TPMS information) is in the owner's manual.
