I have a 1994 E350 shuttle bus that has been converted into a tiny home on wheels. It currently has the “check engine” light on and the error is listing issues with the ERG system. There are several parts that have been discontinued by Ford. Does anyone have any idea where to find after market parts for this year of vehicle? Any and all help
would be greatly appreciated. It has low mileage (owned business two small churches and an senior community) prior. It drives good but I don’t want to do permanent damage and truthfully the check engine light makes me nervous.
Thank you
A 1994 model year Econoline series does not use a DPFE sensor for EGR feedback. It uses the old style EGR Valve Position (EVP) sensor on top of the EGR valve.
Given your stated code "egr doesn’t open" I am assuming the code number is 332? This code can be displayed in Stored Codes or during the Key On Engine Running (KOER) tests. We really need to know if that is the correct code number and when it is displayed.

I am taking it back tomorrow to get the exact code numbers. The part you speak of, is it discontinued? I believe we looked for it prior but I could be wrong. Any advice on where to find should that be the item I need?

you were correct it was code 332 but also 452 vehicle speed sensor circuit
Thanks for replying with the codes. For Code 332 we need to know when it was displayed. Meaning that code can appear in Stored Codes, the EGR opening failure happened some time in the past, or was it during the Key On Engine Running tests.
Code 332 can have many causes. The most common is someone before you removed the vacuum line to the EGR valve itself. This is an attempt to boost MPGs and performance, but it's an urban myth. Before replacing ANY parts you or the mechanic has to verify the EGR valve is opening when commanded. If it is not opening then replacing the EVP sensor is pointless and a waste of time and money.
Code 452 is a Stored Code only so the code definition is the same, Vehicle Speed signal error was detected in the last 40 drive cycles (paraphrased). Again that code has several causes. The easy checks are verifying the connector on the speed sensor on top of the rear axle is clean and tight. If that is a good then you might consider removing that sensor to see if it has a lot of metal shavings and old grease stuck to it. If it does try cleaning it off and re-installing. Clear the Stored Codes then drive the vehicle for a few miles. Re-run the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) tests and Stored Code display to see if Code 452 returns.
