Getting Worse Before Getting better.

I guess I didn't realize how bad things are backed up.
I went to my dealer today to get in line and trade in my 15' GMC plow truck for either a new 2023 F-350 Lariat SCSWB, or a GMC 2500HD DC LTZ from their GM side across the street... which ever he could get first.
I'll need this truck before next winter..

Well, reality I guess...he thinks it'll take a miracle to get one before winter, and there obviously isn't anything out there available.
So, he's going to order both when the order banks re-open, and we'll see which one makes it here first.
Until then I guess I keep the 15' just in case.

Too political but the inflation in prices isn’t a fluke and continual covid shut down excuses in Asia is a campaign to raise prices on parts and pieces needed for manufacturing.

Long story short is the rich are getting richer at everyone’s cost.

Dont feel bad, ive ordered three new trucks for my business and I dont expect to see them until the end of this year. Im actually fully prepared and it wouldnt surprise me that the end of the year comes and I never see those trucks at all. Not to mention every other piece of equipment I ordered in 2021 that ive just been advised has no chance of being built in 2022.

Just finished repairing cab rot and installing aluminum flatbeds on my three current trucks in preparation that ill be using them for a few more years before replacement.

I’ve ordered an f150, f350, SR tundra, JD 325G, and express van. The f350 came too late and I bought a used f350. The others are MIA, no contact.

The f350 has been in once for a transmission recall, and needs to go again once they release the next recall (still messed up).

I have a 2013 f250 sitting in my yard with a dead battery with 3 buyers waiting but I cant be without a truck for 6 weeks again when the 350 goes in.

So I will fix one of my older classics to drive for a few weeks, drive my weekend car (probably won’t), or get serious with a higher end Tundra order which they will probably fill but don’t want any car payment debt.

We really truly need to bring manufacturing back to the USA 🇺🇸

Well, it is what it is.
If production remains this stagnant, my trade shouldn’t suffer. I usually buy a new plow with a new truck. I might want to act now. LOL.

How could you not have realized how backed up things were until now? It's been all around us for two years now.

I just ordered a trailer that was almost double what it was a year ago. One year.

Seriously?
It really hasn’t been around us for two years. What’s been around us is a very very slow process of ordering/receiving, trickling down to a drip.
What’s around us now is closed order banks until the end of summer at the soonest, with no clue to what’s coming after that..
It is what it is. I’ll just order and treat it as a surprise when one of the two comes in.

Pete build slots, along with KW have ridiculous value.
Rush might be the only dealership with stock, …at 250K.

yeah seriously. You must live a sheltered existence. I work in manufacturing and we've been running at reduced capacity or having shutdowns for two years. We can't get parts to make cars and trucks. It has been right in my face for two years.

my favorite restaurant that I'd been going to for a long time shut it's doors more than a year ago.

Where or what do you do or live that you haven't seen this?

Heck, I even told my wife we needed to order our superduty back in September because we probably wouldn't be able to get one if we didnt.

ordered a new crane truck in october. in february we were told that ford contacted them and told them that they would only get 15 of their 23 ordered trucks and didn't tell them which ones so it'd be best for us to order retail

well of course we've heard nothing since about our f-600. i'm not worried about our current truck, it's got a 5 speed and a 7.3. the 20+yr old crane on it, however, is getting iffy.

in the meantime i've got 2 personal 350s on order and a barn stacked up with bumpers and whatnot waiting for them. with my luck i won't get either truck and none of the stuff will fit whatever year model i eventually do get.

fun times, fun times

It's impossible to have a discussion like this without discussing politics, because everything now involves politics. It's not as simple as "greedy old business men." Economics is a weapon countries use against each other. It's also a tool for controlling people. We have also dealt with extreme ignorance and open disdain from Our own politicians who can, and have, crushed economies and businesses with little thought or concern for what happens next.

To your post, when the usual greed, things like the "just in time supply chain, we can do it cheaper" manufacturing model, is combined with the above, its disastrous. The title of this thread may be misleading, because I have to wonder of it WILL get better.

As for China and their economic warfare, this was all by design. In case anyone isn't familiar with China's business model, I'll give an example: honey. China initiated a plan to control honey prices. First, they had to destroy US honey production. The main tool used was what's known as " dumping". China subsidized their domestic honey production so they could flood the US market with honey sold for far less than it cost to produce. The Chinese also have zero concern for life. They will sell horribly adulterated, dangerous products, which also makes their products cheaper. They would lose no sleep feeding American children honey tainted with dangerous chemicals, just to use a cheaper "filler", like when they used melamine in dog food and killed untold thousands of pets in the US.

US honey producers are unable to sell their honey at a loss, so they eventually began to fold. In their plan, China gains an ever increasing market share of the industry and eventually becomes the sole honey producer in the world. At that point, they can charge what they want for honey and the US government and importors have to conduct constant quality control testing to ensure the honey is actually honey. This IS their plan for ALL industry in the world, especially the US. And greed makes it easy for them too do this, since people want cheap stuff and many businesses are only concerned with profit.

Our complaints here on this truck forum are due to " enemies, foreign and domestic." Covid was the greatest gift to politicians. As Rahm Emanuel, former Obama adviser, Chicago Mayor, and current ambassador to Japan said, "You can never let a good crisis go to waste!". And they haven't.
