has anyone added heated seats using the oem heating elements instead of a generic heating kit pads? i would be using the generic control wiring harness and control *****.
curious if there is a built in thermostat on the oem pads?
curious if the oem pad leads are just 2 wires?
I am not sure if there is a thermostat or thermistor in the circuit. The switch is a three position push button type and it is basically defaulted to High when turned on. Push the button to select Med or Low or back to High. I did find this wire diagram, but I am not good at symbols. I think one is a rheostat and the other is the heating coil. But its just a guess.
blue wire to point 14 make me think it not included??? but i cant seem to find a separate sensor in the parts fiche? and JL3Z14D696A is unclear if it has the sensor built in???
ugh. really wanted to use the 'correct' oem heating element...
Why do you want the factory pads? Are they that much better than the generic ones? I would think most people would prefer the factory controls and not care about the pads?
Im not trying to derail your thread, just trying to understand. Im hoping I haven't overlooked anything. For the record, I have aftermarket pads and controls waiting on my truck to be built (it's in production!).

i like how the oem pads fit the seat contour perfectly. i'm ok with the aftermarket controls.
which heating kit did you get?

This is the set I bought. I'm very pleased at the length of the harness. It should be long enough to mount the controls on the dash without extending the wires. The ***** look very nice and could be confused with factory. My only point of concern is the electronic controller. Hopefully it lasts, but for $52, it won't cost much to replace.

I'll try to remember. I don't have my truck yet. It's in production now. I'm hopeful it will be built this week. I probably won't have it until sometime next month. If I forget, shoot me a message to remind me in about a month.
Here you go @mewaschuk . I got the ***** installed this weekend. I still need to tap the fuse panel to get key on power, but else is done. The surface they are mounted on is angled downward slightly but I felt this was the best location. I wanted to mount them between the radio and climate control ***** but there's no room bedind the panel. I'm pleased with how it came out. The only other places the ***** could be mounted are outboard of where I mounted them where they would be angled toward the seats they control or way up top just outboard of the hazard/traction control buttons.
If anyone has any suggestions for fuse taps or already figured out what slot to tap for key on power I'd appreciate it.
The red dots are other potential mounting locations and the blue dots are where I wanted to mount them but couldn't due to panel construction.

looks good! i debated on those switches and ended up getting a 3 position low profile version form leatherseats.com. in part because it has a 3yr warranty and i never thought to put the switches on the dash like that. i was planning to use the rear seat heat fuse in the passenger footwell panel, if it has keyed power....

I used a micro 2 fuse tap on circuit 35 on the BCM fuse panel behind the passenger kick panel. Per the owner's manual it is an unused spare and I tested it to confirm power is only present with the key in the "on" position. There was no power with the key off, or with the key in "accessory". Power is present with the engine off though, you do not need to start the truck to get power, just turn the key to "on". I am comfortable with this operation and did not test any other circuits. Hopefully this will save someone from having to test for themselves.
