Aftermarket AC

I'm building up a 77 Supercab on a 99 Superduty frame with 7.3 up front in the How Small is a "Supercab" thread.
I am looking for ideas and experience on aftermarket AC kits. Originally I was planning to go with a regular heater/AC box under the dash and run hoses to vents. My space is fairly tight with the firewall modifications I did so I am having issues finding a box that will fit. Restomod air has one but their controls are terrible looking and all of their stuff is bluetooth and connected to the internet for some reason. I like the Vintage Air stuff but most of their evaporators are too big. I'm thinking of going with one of the under dash kits with heat and defrost but can't get an idea of what they look like up under the dash. The design of them looks like it would be quite bulky in the footwell. Has anybody got any experience with these setups? Any other ideas?

I installed a Classic Air system in my 79. It works good but it’s loud and the temperature blend function is kind of useless. It will blow cold or hot but not much in between. The evap box is pretty big but it doesn’t get in the way and no one complains so I’m ok with it. It uses flex duct to connect to the existing vent outlets. Other than the old vents everything else is replaced in the kit. The controls are not the best looking but they kind of fit in a 79 cab. Here’s some pics if it helps.

Thanks, that is another one to add to the list. I haven't come up with an idea that I like yet and am still looking around for more options.

In addition to the factory installed air conditioning system there was a dealer-installed air conditioning system. It did not have the big box mounted to the firewall in the engine compartment, so that may work for you.

If your firewall space is limited you need to look at a system that doesn't require you to drill directly into the firewall for the hose pass through. A few of the systems hose connections are aimed directly into the firewall and that is why I chose restomod air. The evaporator has the fittings pointed toward the footwell where you can route the heater/AC hoses toward the very passenger side of the firewall or like me route them through the cold air duct with no hoses visibly in the engine bay. The hoses exit into the wheel well. Spendy but plenty powerful for Phoenix. They have the same controller as Classic noted above and has a 3 speed fan, but with bluetooth the fan has 10 speeds so it cuts way back on the unnecessary fan noise. It also tucks way up in the dash and allows complete use of the glovebox. No possible way for a passenger to kick it unless their trying. Internet not required.
