AC Dash question

Guys I got a problem with my dash. When I switch it to AC it will start blowing, but it quickly pulls away from AC and it stops blowing. Now my AC is not hooked up, I just bought the truck, so I really don't know if it works, but I assume it doesn't since one of the PO's unhooked it. I would like to have the ability to get some air moving without opening the vent wing. But the little sliding selecter just pushes itself back away from AC and quits blowing, but if I hold it it'll keep blowing. Has this ever happened to anyone, or does anyone have any idea what could cause it?

I haven't a clue, but it should be easy enough to pull the trim off around the radio, and then take the screws loose and pull the HVAC control out and try to figure out what's going on.

my 86 glove box has a bad habit of emptying it self out. ink pens, matches, screw drivers, etc. it all ends up on top of my heater controls, and the way I find out, is it does what yours is doing. open the glove box, and try to look at the top of your controls, I'm sure you'll find some missing things gumming up the works
