Looking to buy a 1948-1953 Ford 254 Flattop-6 engine for my Bonneville Racecar. I cracked my block on the salt flats beyond any kind of repair. I'd prefer to get a factory 254 block because its got a little more iron than the 226 does, and I'm running it up to 8,000+ RPM so I need everything I can get.
I attached an overhead picture of the cracked block (doesn't do the damage justice) and also one of the racer. '49 Coupe if anyone was curious...
here's one, but not the one I had seen earlier: from a 59 F350:cnot sure of cubic inch

There's a couple Bonneville racers and a lot of flathead guys over on the Ford Barn Forums as well. Maybe give a shout out over there as well. Good luck on your search.
Not sure why the confusion. Either it is a flathead 254 online 6 or it isn't. I don't think Ford started cranking them out after they left them on the scrap heap of history. I can see the concern about a block being a 226, but wrong year?
